Hey Guildies!

As you noticed by now the website as been changing for the past few days and it is starting to look really good. I believe we are now at a point where we need to think about what content we would like to have on the home page and how to had that content. Some design aspects are not unfinished, but as we add more content we'll be able to work on those more efficiently.

Leave any suggestion you have in the section, it will be easier for us to remember everyone's requests if they write it here.

I think the webpage is already looking awesome and I'm very thankful for all the work you have put into it for us so far Luna, thank you!

Here is my list of suggestions:
- Enable TeamSpeak lobby display? I'm not sure about this one - I want to be respectful to all users in the TeamSpeak lobby, so if we can restrict the access so only members of the webpage can see them that would be the best option to me, we can figure out how to enable the widget.

- Lobby/Server status widget from arrstatus.com, popular widget that can show you if FFXIV servers are down at a glance, will attract member traffic to our site to see the server status rather then arrstatus.com or the lodestone.

- Slight alteration to the FC logo/banner, I find the text in "Wings of the Goddess" looks awesome, but to stay with the theme of the expansion where we took our name that a font that fits that style would be fitting. I have three suggestions for font style, one of them may make you laugh a little.


– The default "Final Fantasy" text.
– The text in "Wings of the Goddess" Though this one feels a bit like it is ripped from a power point presentation…. too… blocky.

– Go ahead and laugh, but this one would fit well as well.

- Feedback system. Optional anon feedback or a user can submit their information if they want to have a conversation about what their feedback is. The founding idea of WotG is to have no 'real' leader, I am a guiding force and I will do whatever the majority of members want, it's important for me to get feedback so I can look after our group.

- This one isn't as much feedback as something that I should learn for myself, it would be useful for me to be able to have access to a spreadsheet to host member data to make it easier to manage runs of various content, if members can see what jobs each other has and what content they are on, it will be easier for them to form groups. This document/spreadsheet would always be needing updating so the easier it is to use, the better. I'm pretty good with Google Docs, so if it was possible to embed a single spreadsheet that would be excellent, maybe just a link that opens a new tab to a sheet would do as well.

Teamspeak lobby display - I think this would be a great idea. However, it would be best if only registered users to the website would be able to see this. Maybe block access to it to visitors and people who are not logged in/registered to this website. So really, access only to FC members.

Lobby/Server status widget from arrstatus.com - Yes please, if possible!

FC Logo/Banner - I like simple and sophisticated text. I do like the Aladdin text, much more than I remembered actually. As for the logo/banner, are we going to incorporate our in-game FC logo to all of our logo/banners?

Forum/Website - Is there a way to make it so only forum text boxes scroll instead of the whole page scrolling? Like… that way our logo/banner is always visible. I don't really have a good example for this, do you know what i'm talking about?

Loot tracker - I really like this feature, especially when we start doing events, it'll be great to see what we have accomplished and help people get!

TeamSpeak lobby display

There is no Privacy settings when adding the TeamSpeak widget to the page compare to some other widget that do have this feature. We would need to test if it is visible to everyone in the first place or remove it completely.

FC logo/banner

My biggest problem with this is that typography rights are a huge pain and I want to avoid using non-free of rights material. I do find that the text is not worthy of the logo. Our option would be to either use a free of rights typography or create it. I would not mind creating it, but it will require a lot of time.

To be anonymous, we would need to create an entirely new page and make it from scratch.

Would you be so kind as to give me an example of a simple and sophisticated text you like =) I'll consider both the Aladdin one and the one you'll add.

About the website design and different sections

I just wanted to share an important information that I am quite unhappy about ("unhappy" to stay polite). I can edit widgets to my liking, however everything else CAN NOT be customize. So it is impossible for me to change the style of anything in the forum, the agenda and so forth.

That is unfortunate.

I'm a fan of cursive - Dark on the other hand isn't… but here is my input. Simple cursive text… easy to read, spaced out and in my opinion would look great.

I also think it would be kind of cool to have wings at the beginning of the banner and the end. It might make it look a little cluttered though… maybe even childish.

EDIT: Actually, looking at it again it would definitely look cluttered.

Logo/Banner

After spending way to many hours trying to find a text style that would fit I'm sad to say I did not came up with anything and it's starting to give me a headache.

So for now what I'm going to do is that I'll continue on my original design because I want to have a feel of my full concept and the end result. All the segments of each letter are actually separate and I was thinking of animating each of them one by one to reveal the text.

In the meantime I'm adding the original logo without the text here.

If you want to add the text you would like to see in the banner/logo feel free to do so and post it back here. I think this will give us a better feel for other designs. However I still do not want to use non free of rights typograhpy, even if its for personal use, so please make sure it is free to use in all aspects.

Home Page Layout

As you probably already saw, I've changed the layout of the homepage. The ideal behind in the section ''About us'' (name can change to something else) is to have a text of introduction and a video about our Free company. The video could be anything from one made especially for introducing the guild or simply the last dungeon/raid/primal we ran together. If we do record a lot a videos in the future, it could be a good ideal to create a YouTube channel and then we could add a button leading to this channel under the welcoming text.

The second section is everything related to news and guild activities. If this layout is kept, we will need to decide what will go in this section.

So with this layout the user who visits our webpage will first see our logo and our pictures, then we'll get to know who we are with the introduction text and the video to finally see what the free company is up to.
